Day 7 - almost time for the wedding

The kids didn't get up this morning until 7am! It is overcast and rainy and windy (every day up until now has been 82F and sunny). We started packing up in the morning, then the cousins came over and we swam in the indoor pool and put the kids down for a late nap. The wedding is at 7pm with reception to follow so the kids will be up very late tonight. We are keeping our fingers crossed for gentle weather because the wedding is on the beach! Posted by Picasa

day 6 - the trampoline

We jumped on Ginny and Samantha's trampoline for a while before dinner at the rehearsal dinner. Chloe and Alex have been jumping on trampolines at Tumble Tots class and in the next door neighbor's yard, so they know how to have fun! Posted by Picasa

Day 6 - Rehearsal dinner

The kids all had nice naps today and were in pretty good spirits for the rehearsal dinner. The roast pig wasn't on a spit and we didn't even see it until it was pulled pig. Dinner was delicious. This is the whole of my Dad's family except for my cousins Henry and Emma who were busy doing the actual rehearsal. Posted by Picasa

Day 6 - Still lovin the "floaties"

Alex loves the indoor pool. He was crushed when we made him go to the beach 1st before we went to the pool today. Chloe loves her "floatie" and takes it everywhere. She litterally carries it all through the condo and sits with it around her waist while she plays and reads stories. Tonight we are going to the rehearsal dinner for my cousin Henry's wedding. It is a pig roast and I'm worried how the kids and I will feel about seeing a whole pig being cooked. Alex is excited about seeing Ginny again. Posted by Picasa

Day 6 - sleepier all the time

Yesterday was our 10 year wedding anniversary. Alex couldn't fall asleep at nap time and was pretty cranky by late afternoon. By dinner time he so miserable that we let him sit in Casey's lap instead of making him sit in his booster seat. Alex fell asleep there before Casey got his first bite in his mouth. That was 6pm and we figured that Alex would wake up at 3am, so we were pleasantly surprised when he slept through till 5am. Today we took a walk on the beach to look for shells and both kids wanted to be carried most of the way. Posted by Picasa

day 5 - cousins in the pool

My cousins Samantha and Ginny play with the kids in the indoor pool today. Alex and Aunt Danielle are happy for a break from the sand. Alex loves Ginny and cries when she has to go to school. He says "I want to go to school with Ginny!". Posted by Picasa

Day 4 - Nap works wonders

All 3 kids had a long nap and felt much better after. Natalie and Chloe took their "floaties" to the ocean and had the time of their lives actually swimming in the ocean (not just wading). Alex took his floatie to the pool and practiced jumping in off the side. When we got back the kids still wanted to play in the floaties. Best $3 I spent all vacation! Posted by Picasa

Day 4 - Tired kids

The kids have been good as gold... until this morning. I guess the shine wore off the vacation and the kids really started to feel tired. Great Granddad pitched in to help by reading to the kids. Posted by Picasa

Day 3 - orchestra in the park

My cousin Emma is 1st violin in her high school band, and went to listen to them perform a pops concert in the park. Posted by Picasa

Day 3 - orchestra in the park

My cousins Samantha and Virginia (Ginny) amused the kids by making giant bubbles. Posted by Picasa

Day 3 - The view

Speaks for itself. Posted by Picasa

Day 3 - Another day in paradise

Alex didn't get back in the ocean 1st thing in the morning, he played in the sand a little while first before we warmed up to the idea of getting wet. By lunch time he was actually sitting in the tide pool. Posted by Picasa

Day 3 - We photographed the illusive crab

We've seen a lot of crabs and crab holes on the beach. Chloe says she likes the crabs a little bit, but she is a little bit scared of them. Posted by Picasa

day 2- the condo

The condo is right on the beach, just behind the dunes. Our balcony has an ocean view and a view of the indoor pool. The other condo that my family is renting is right next door and also has an ocean view and a view of the outdoor pool. Posted by Picasa

day 2 - Chloe loves the ocean

Chloe is fearless in the waves. The water was surprisingly warm. I am a big wimp about cold water and I wasn't bothered at all about splashing with the kids. Posted by Picasa

day 2 - rub a dub dub, three kids in a tub

Natalie, Alex, and Chloe enjoyed washing the sand off in a shared bath. Posted by Picasa

Day 2 - Boy gets wet at last!

In his third year at the beach, Alex finally decided that it is ok to let the ocean touch his feet! We are so proud that our cautious boy has taken this chance to experience the joy of splashing in the ocean. Posted by Picasa

Day 2 - Can we go to the beach now

The kids slept until after 7am. Before she'd been up an hour, Chloe had talked us into putting a swim diaper, sun screen and her bathing suit on her. She couldn't wait to go down to the beach. In fact, last night she asked us if she could go outside and sleep on the beach Posted by Picasa

1st day

We're here, safe and sound. Nice trip, it really couldn't have gone better. The kids went down for bed very late, but without incident. Posted by Picasa
